Immanuel Mar Thoma Parish Choir was established on 5th April 2018 and registered under the Department of Sacred Music and Communications (DSM&C), the official music department of the Marthoma Syrian Church.
IMTC Choir is presently blessed with 39 members. Under the experienced and dedicated leadership of Choir Master Mr. George Thomas K (Prasad), the Church Choir is assisting the Vicar in Holy Qurbana and Worship services with the chants and worship songs, making the service a more divine experience for the congregation and adding beauty to the worship service.
Taking the cue from choirs in Biblical times, the role of the choir in the Church is one of ministry. The Bible shows us that God likes humankind to praise and worship Him. For this, He set apart the tribe of Levi. King David appointed Levites as singers and musicians. These singers and musicians ministered day and night in the tabernacle and later in the temple - these were some of the first earthly choirs assigned to serve God through song. We the members of IMTC Choir members are trying their best to serve the God through this ministry.
December is a festive season which instils the joy of Christmas. It's a time where we glorify His name and meditate upon the word of God. Christmas Carol Service forms an indispensable part of Christmas worship. Also our Choir take part in KECF and Centre Christmas Carol Singing functions every year. Glorifying God is not just an inward experience. We use all opportunities to reach out to all and glorify His name, so that it also becomes an outward experience.
Practice Sessions
Choir practices are held every Saturdays from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Mar Thoma Centre.
